2/6/12, HUNTINGDON
VS THE MOUNT UNION TROJANS.
Just like "old times" were the comments ringing around the gymnasium
this evening as Mount Union and Huntingdon packed the HAHS gym. Even the
end bleachers were opened up to account for the fan over flow.
The intensity was thick as each team started fast but not on the score
board, pore shooting in the first half concluded with a 1 point lead for
the Cat's heading into the locker room. The second half started with the
same intensity, this time, shots were falling. Mount Union's Ryan
McClain sank back to back treys to put Mount Union up by 5 points, then
Huntingdon rallied around junior Josh Foster, who's career night was
timed perfectly as Foster sank some three's of his own to tie the game.
Back and forth both teams went in the fourth quarter, neither could
build more than a 3 point lead. With under a minute to play, Huntingdon
was down 47-46. With Mount Union playing tight man to man, Huntingdon's
Gearhart was somehow able to slip free at the arc and drain a three
pointer with 12.7 seconds left to give the Cat's a 2 point lead.
Mount Union's last few shot attempts were no good while Huntingdon sank
a free throw. The game ended, Huntingdon 50,
Mount Union 47.
After the game, the student sectioned stormed the court, what an
incredible site.
Huntingdon was led by Foster with 15 points. Ralph Zoerner added 7
rebounds, 8 steals and 6 assists while Ritchey pulled down 10 boards of
his own. Cody Neyman added 12 points and 9 boards. Riley cleaned some
more glass with his 8 boards. Huntingdon held a 40 to 25 advantage on
the boards.
Huntingdon's junior varsity won the prelim contest with a 38-31 score.
Josh Foster led the Cat's with 10 points.
All teams are back in action this Wednesday at Central Martinsburg. The
junior high games could be played at Spring Cove, please verify with the
