Tuesday, December 23, 2011 Huntingdon Bearcats
vs, the Mifflin County Huskies The Bearcat Varsity boys basketball team battled all night against the newly formed power house Mifflin County Huskies. Before this school year started, Lewistown and Indian Valley combined to form Mifflin County, basically a quad "A" caliber school district. Huntingdon started out strong jumped to an 8-2 lead. However, the Huskies used it's tremendous size advantage as Mifflin County was led by 6'-7" Wagner's 18 points and was too much for Huntingdon as the Cats shooting went cold from the outside. Mifflin County pulled out of Huntingdon with a hard fought 58-50 decision. Ralph Zoerner led the cats with 14 points, Riley canned 11 points and pulled down a team high 10 rebounds. Freshman Nate Gearhart chipped in with 11 points as well including three treys of his own. Huntingdon will participate in the Bishop Guilfoyle Holiday tournament the coming Tuesday 12/27 @ 7:30 pm first round night cap against host Bishop Guilfoyle. In the Junior Varsity contest, Huntingdon jumped out to a 15 point lead and really never looked back as it took their record to 3-1 in beating Mifflin County 41-32. Kyle Robertson scored 9 for the Cats and Devon Claar added 8. The junior high team lost to Mifflin County 52-24. Shane Montgomery and Hudson Speck each scored 6 points for the cats. |
