The Huntingdon Bearcats took
on the Central Dragons tonight in Huntingdon. Central jumped out early
to a 17 point lead as Huntingdon again started slow. Turnovers and
sloppy play limited the Cats in the first half as once again the hole
dug in the point column was too much to overcome as the Cats eventually
lost a 65-46 game.
Per coach Payne, "Give Central credit, they have a nice ball club" were
his comments after the game as Huntingdon allowed Central to jump out to
a 19-2 lead. The Bearcats crawled back into the contest mid way through
the third period and cut the deficit to 7 points. The Cats only turned
the ball over 1 time during this 3rd quarter run, however, it was short
lived as Central went on a 14 point run to regain control.

Huntingdon was paced by Senior Ryan Ritchey's 12 points and Zoerner's 10
tallies as Cody Neyman grabbed 10 rebounds for the Cats. Cunningham and
Meyers each had 17 points with Meyers pulling in 13 rebounds. Huntingdon
committed 17 turn overs on the night.
In the junior varsity match up, Central and Huntingdon battled for 4
quarters without determining the winner as overtime was needed. Claar
nailed a three point bucket to tie the game at 39 with under 20 seconds
left in regulation then had a game winning three rim out at the end of
overtime. Greg Kurtz paced the Cat's with 9 points with Claar and
Gearhart adding 8 points each in the losing effort. Kurtz also pulled
down a team high 12 rebounds. In the end, Central pulled out the 45-44
win. Both teams show promise for some great future matchups.
Huntingdon's 9th grade team was simply out manned as the Dragons ran
away with a 46-28 decision. Kobren Frederick led the Cat's with 10
points with Central's Lafferty tallying 14 points.
All teams are back in action this Friday with a home matchup with
Bellefonte.
