The Bearcats road show continued tonight against the high-flying Tyrone Golden Eagles. The Eagles are fresh off their return from the state championship football game in Hershey this past weekend and the high energy of the crowd filled the gym. The Eagles prevailed 59-50 in a very physical and mental battle against the 2-1 Bearcats.
Huntingdon struggled with three key aspects of their game - shooting, rebounding and turnovers. The Eagles gained an early lead in the contest and held that lead the entire game. In the third period the Bearcats closed the gap to within 4 points but could not gain the edge on the Eagles.
Leading the Bearcats, Ralph Zoerner scored 20 points and tallied 10 rebounds. Devon Claar added 10 points for the cause. Richard Crabtree lead the Eagles with 16 points and Steve Franco followed with 13.
In the Junior Varsity matchup the Bearcats suffered their first loss as well with a 44-25 victory going to the Golden Eagles. Nate Gearhart lead the Bearcats with 11 points.
The 9th grade Bearcats fell to 1-2 on the season by loosing 36-21 to the young Tyrone squad. Kobren Fredericks led the team with 9 points.
The Jr. High Teams are back in action on Thursday, December 22nd at Mount Union at 3:45pm. All teams with host Mifflin County this Friday, December 23rd in Huntingdon.
