Friday December 16, 2011 Huntingdon Bearcats at Juniata Indians
Tonight Huntingdon travelled to Mifflintown for a showdown with the ever improving Juniata Indians. Huntingdon started out very slow as Juniata jumped out to a 18-7 lead basically by just out hustling the Bearcats. Huntingdon closed the gap in the second quarter as Ryan Ritchey began getting rebounds and put backs to pace the Bearcats with 16 points. Senior Adam Rosevear started heating up from the outside to finish the night with 14 points.
Huntingdon finally took the lead and entered halftime with a 29-27 advantage. That lead eventually built to 10 points going into the fourth quarter. Juniata cut the lead down to 5 points midway through the 4th quarter but Huntingdon rallied around Ritchey and Neyman and pounded the inside to take the final score to 70-59.
Senior Cody Neyman again paced the Bearcats in rebounds with 12 boards and 8 points. Sophomores Gordon Gable and Devon Claar score 12 and 7 points respectively. Logan Aurand led the Indians with 13 points on the night.
In the junior varsity game, an over matched Juniata team struggled from the opening tip as Huntingdon won a lopsided game, 62-15. Greg Kurtz led the Cats with 13 points while Yogi Lovett and Josh Neyman had 11 points each.
In the 9th grade game, Huntingdon, led by Kyler Miller's 16 points and Shane Montgomery's 10 points, defeated the Indians 35-31.
All teams are back in action, again on the road, Tuesday December 20 visiting the Tyrone Golden Eagles. |
