Tonight, the Bisons of Clearfield hosted the Bearcats of Huntingdon. The Bearcats, playing without three (3) starters, started out strong and built as much as a ten point lead thanks to the 3 point shooting of senior Adam Rosevear. The Bearcats took the lead into to the halftime as Clearfield looked to make some adjustments.
Clearfield did just that by pressing early and often in the 2nd half and eventually built a small 3 point lead. In a second half that had it's fair share of sloppy play with numerous fouls being called, Huntingdon found it' self down by 3 with less than 2 seconds on the clock. On the inbounds, Freshman Nate Gearhart took the pass, head faked, stepped behind the three point line and drained the game tying 3 point field to send the game into overtime as time expired.
Neither team score many points during the overtime period. Sophomore Devon Claar made 2 free throws after an intentional foul was committed by Clearfield sending Claar to the line to make the score 49-46 Huntingdon with 1.7 seconds left to play. One last heave for Clearfield was off the mark and Huntingdon pulled out the exciting 49-46 overtime victory.
Adam Rosevear lead Huntingdon in scoring with 19 points, Cody Neyman added 12 boards (3 offensive), Ryan Ritchey added 10 points and 8 boards and Claar added 7 points with 7 assists with 8 rebounds.
In the Junior Varsity game, Tanner Cook lead the Bearcats with a team high 10 points to earn a 26-21 victory over Clearfield.
The Huntingdon 9th grade team dropped a 31-22 decision.
The teams will be in action this Friday at Juniata.
